Breckenridge part 2

Adam and I got up Saturday morning and started making breakfast. My mom and I split the meals for the trip, so breakfast was our turn. Saturday was the first day of skiing for everyone. I didn't ski because Colton was very out of his comfort zone and I wasn't going to leave my mom with an extremely fussy 2 year old. Don, Mallory and Maddie had ski lessons for the morning and everyone else just hit the slopes. Sami ended up coming back in after an hour due to pretty bad muscle pain. So me, my mom, Sami and the boys went out to explore. We walked and in some stores, then stopped at this cute little bakery for some lunch. They had sandwiches, soups, quiche and of course pastries. Let me just say that the soup I got was outstanding!!!

Anyway, we went back to our room after lunch and shortly after, everyone came back to eat. Everyone was having a great time! The beginners were doing awesome! After everyone went back out, I put the kids down for a nap and relaxed. It was great to relax there and stare out the windows at the beautiful mountains!

That evening, everyone came back sore and tired. We had lasagna and salad and hung out. A little later, Adam, Sami, matt, Shea and I, went out for a couple drinks. It took forever to find a place where we could actually sit! But we ended up right by our hotel. It was fun to hang out and chat. We didn't stay long due to a fussy baby, but it was still fun to go out.

We headed back and hung out with everyone. Then off to bed we went. Everyone was ready to take on the mountains again!

Part 3 to come soon...

Breckenridge pt 1

We left for Colorado Thursday morning around 930. Our goal was to get to Denver and finish the drive Friday. The boys did seriously awesome and we made it to Denver, got a hotel and let the boys stretch out.

Friday morning, we got up, got ready and met up with the rest of my family. They got a later start on Thursday and got to Denver pretty late Thursday night. The drive from Denver was pretty short and once we saw the mountains, we were in awe! It was absolutely gorgeous!!!

We got to our room, which was more like an apartment...3 bedroom, 3 bath, living and kitchen. The view from our balcony was gorgeous as well. I could just stare at it all the time. Beautiful!! Anyway, we all decided we were hungry, so we walked to a place called Eric's. It was a pretty neat little restaurant and really good!!! Adam and I both got their meatball sub and it was pretty tasty. After lunch, my cousin, Sami was about to meet us there, so we all headed back and we put the kiddos down for a nap. When they were napping, everyone went to get their ski rentals and lift tickets, Sami and I got the chili going for dinner and had a glass of wine whole we chatted.

That afternoon, after everyone got back, we decided to go snow tubing. Snow tubing was about 15 min away from where we were staying. We got all bundled up and hopped in the car. We only had about an hour to snow tube before they closed, but that was enough. My mom started inside with Corbin for a while and Adam and I took Colton up the hill. He started out loving the tube! Adam was pulling him around and he had the biggest smile on his face. Soooo we were able to all hold on to each others tubes and go together. It started out great and Colton LOVED it. Then it got rough and he was bounced down in his tube and couldn't get back up. I could see the fear in his eyes and my heart just broke for him because I knew he was so scared. We got to the bottom and he started calling for dad. Adam got him out and he did NOT want to get back in it. Poor guy! I felt so bad for him!! After that, Adam stayed at the bottom with Colton while I went up with Sami and Maddie. Snow tubing was a lot of fun!! I wish I had more pictures of it.

We got back from tubing and ate chili and just hung out and relaxed. The next day was a big one for everyone! Some first time skiers! Sami ended up bringing a twin blow up mattress and putting it in our closet, which was hilarious!!

I'll be back with more of our trip. This is already getting lengthy.

3 months

Another month had flown by and our little guy is already 3 months old! Here's a little run down for you...

Weight: After losing a little from being sick, and now he's eating a ton, he's almost 14 pounds. At his appt, before he got worse, he was 13 lbs 12 oz. So in sure he's right around that again.
Diapers: size 2
Sleep: 12 ish hours. He was sick, so that threw a wrench in his night sleeping and now I'm pretty sure he's going through a growth spurt. For the past couple days, he's been eating like crazy and sleep hasn't been that great. Hopefully today is the turn around. He seems exhausted and his feedings are more normal now.
Misc: He is known as 'Mr Smiley'. I have never been around a baby that smiles as much as he does. He talks quite a bit too, which I love! He sits in his bumbo now really well. So he sits in that while we eat meals, or when I'm cooking. Makes it so much easier to get things done. He also LOVES to lay on his play mat and kick and coo at his toys. Which is also a huge help so I can get things done. Another huge thing...he has started rolling from tummy to back. He gets stuck more times than he makes it over, but he still tries. He also likes to look at himself in a mirror while doing tummy time.

I feel like this was a big month for Corbin! Colton of course still loves him. He doesn't like it when one of us leaves with Corbin. He wants to know where "baby" went. He can't say his name yet, but he knows who Corbin is. So for now, he's just known as baby. After 2 weeks, I'm so glad the boys are back to normal! Just in time for our trip to Colorado!

I love watching Corbin grow and watching Colton interact with him. Colton will talk to him and Corbin just lights up! Melts my heart! I've said it before and I'll say it again; I am so blessed to be their mom. I have 2 pretty awesome, sweet, adorable boys.

Tonight, we're starting to get everything together and pack. We have another long car ride with the boys, but that's ok. I'm so excited to go to Colorado! I haven't been in 11 years. We have a huge crew going, so it will be a blast. 10 adults and 2 kiddos. Posts about the trip to come, but for now, here's some of our little guys.

Date night

On Thursday night, 12.5 weeks after Corbin was born, Adam and I finally went out. This was much needed! We took the boys to my moms. You would think we were packing for the weekend. Meds, diapers, bottle, milk, etc.

We dropped them off and headed to downtown OKC. I had been to S&B Burgers with one of my friends, but Adam had never been. They have a bunch of different burgers and you can get them in either slider size to try more than 1, or get a regular sized burger if you know what you like. We opted for sliders. Adam got 2 and I got 2. We should've split them so we could try all of them but we ate what we ordered ourselves. Yuuummmm! So far I've really enjoyed going there. It's a pretty neat place! We actually got to sit and talk without hearing momma!! Or dad!!! Or crying.

We were gone about 2 hours but it was a great 2 hours spent with each other. We definitely need to do that a lot more often!

Baby update

Last Thursday thru yesterday (Tuesday), were honestly the most stressful days in my 2 years and 3 months of being a mom. Colton didn't get sick until he was 10 months old. Yes, I was worried then, but it wasn't really stressful. And of course, he's been sick plenty of times since then.

I was not prepared for have our 2 1/2 month baby, to get sick. I was definitely not prepared for them to both be sick at the same time. What I was really not prepared for...the wheezing from Corbin, having to bottle feed him so I could keep track of his intake and counting his breathing. I have never felt so helpless in my life.

Thursday, we went to see the PA and they were diagnosed with RSV but told he was good. Friday, he was worse. The coughing and wheezing was much worse. We took him to minor emergency and by the time we got there, his wheezing had calmed down and they too, told us he was fine and would have to cycle through it. Saturday was worse again. He had all that gunk in his chest and when he would try to cough it up and swallow, he would gag and choke. Sunday was much of the same. No improvement. Monday, we decided if he wasn't better, we would take him back in. Monday morning rolled around and at first he sounded good. Then he started coughing and it sounded like he was breathing gravel, still wheezing, still sounding bad. I called to make an appt and requested we actually see his dr.

Appt time came and I cannot say enough how much I love our pediatrician!!! He actually talks to you and listens. He checked Corbin out and we ended leaving with a prescription for an inhaler and steroid, then told us what we could get to help with congestion. Ahhhh, soooo much better!

Tuesday morning came and he sounded SO much better than he had. Still not normal, but definitely better. He was smiling and cooing and much like his old self. Today is even better. Thank goodness for a dr that will listen to you and try to help.

I was so worried about our little guy. Making sure he stayed hydrated, I would try to feed him every 30 min to hour because he was only eating 1/2 an oz, which was so not like him!

I'm sure you're wondering about Colton too. He did well with being sick. There was a day he really didn't feel well but other than that, he's been a champ. He still has a cough and runny nose, but no more fever and he's much more himself as well.

I'm so glad they're both feeling better! I felt so helpless and it was awful. I am so incredibly thankful for our family for checking on us and bringing us food because there was absolutely no going anywhere and not much time for cooking. It helped so much!

Thank goodness they're getting better! But now I have a head cold. Ha! It was inevitable though. And thankfully it's not respiratory. Anyway, that's our update. Enjoy your evening.

New Year

I know we're already 7 days in, but last year seemed to fly by! I can't believe it's already 2013!

Last year was fun! We started the year off in Wisconsin, found out we were pregnant again, went to Disney World, had play dates, went to Wisconsin for Nicole's wedding, swam, went to the zoo, Colton turned 2, Corbin joined our family, Thanksgiving, another trip to Wisconsin, Christmas, played in the snow and family time! 2012 was a great year and we have a lot to be thankful for!

So far this year, we went to the Science Museum with Joe and Aunt Julie. Then that night, the boys got sick. Here we are 5 days later and they're still sick. Seem to be getting better though.

We already have a lot planned for this year. We are going to Colorado in 10 days, Wisconsin in May, and Disney world again in October I think. I'm sure between those trips, we will have a lot going on too. Corbin will hit all of his first year milestones and Colton will continue to increase his vocabulary and make us smile and laugh every day with his personality. They are both such sweet boys and I am so incredibly lucky to be their mom.

We have a lot to look forward to this year. I am so very thankful to have an amazing husband who works hard so I can stay home with our boys. I love his schedule because we get a lot of family time! I can honestly say I am the happiest I've ever been. I feel so content! and although some days may be rough, I am incredibly happy and thankful to be where I am.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2013!!

Sick babies

Yesterday evening, after the science museum fun, both boys had a bit of a cough. During the night, Colton was running a fever and this morning, they both had a pretty bad cough. Thankfully, we were able to get in to see the Dr today. They did a nasal swab on Corbin and he tested positive for RSV. Basically just the common cold for adults, but for the little ones, we need to keep an eye on them to make sure it doesn't get more serious.

Once we got home from the Dr, Corbin slept for about 3.5 hours. Colton had a nice nap later this afternoon too. Poor little guys don't feel well. I just hope this sickness leaves our house quick! I don't like seeing our little guys like this. Although, when they're awake, they've been in a good mood!!

Science Museum

My little cousin is in town from Florida. So yesterday, we met him and my aunt (not his mom...also his aunt) at the Science Museum. Colton and Joe are about a year apart. Saying they had fun, would be an understatement. We were there from 1030-2 and they went non stop the whole time. There's so much to see there and they didn't even see half of it! It's so fun to see them play together. I just hope that Joe and Colton and one day Corbin, can be as close as I am with Sami and Coby.
Colton crashed hard when we got home!

December 26th

My Uncle and little cousin couldn't fly in until Christmas Day night, or so we thought...
So the plan was to have Christmas dinner on the 26th, so the whole family could see them, they would get Christmas dinner and Joe would get his Santa gifts. Back to Henryetta we went. Like I said, it had snowed on Christmas Day. We were a tad worried about traveling because of the roads and we didn't know of they were icy between here and there. So off we went, for the 3rd time in a week. My uncle and cousin were supposed to fly from Florida to Dallas then to OKC and my aunt was going to pick them up and take them to Henryetta the next day.

The roads were good going from our house to Henryetta...once we got in Henryetta, that was a different story. Roads were not good! We actually had quite a scare trying to get up the hill to my grandparents house and ended up having to take a different way.

We got there and realized my aunts car wasn't there. So we go in and come to find out, because of weather in Dallas, they had to detour to Austin and ended up staying the night there and didn't know when they would be able to leave Austin to get to Dallas and then to OKC. Total bummer!!!! But since we had the whole family there and the food was cooking, we went on with the meal. Right before we sat down to eat, they were leaving Dallas. As we sat around, Adam decided to take Colton outside to play in the snow. Oh my gosh...little kids in puffy coats, hat and gloves are the cutest thing ever!!!! He picked up the snow and played a little, then Adam pulled him around on the sled. He had a blast!!! I think Adam pulled him for 15-20 min. It was pretty cold outside too! Colton came back inside and said "cold! Burrrr!"

Sadly, we had to leave to get Sami to the airport in OKC before my uncle got there. As we were leaving Henryetta, they were just leaving the OKC airport to go to Henryetta. We actually passed them on the highway. But we got Sami to the airport and said our goodbyes. Thankfully, we will be seeing here again very soon because she's meeting us in Colorado to go skiing!

After a bunch of traveling and celebrating Christmas, it was sadly over. The boys were glad to be home and play with their toys. We were exhausted! But we had a great week spending time with family and eating way too much food!
