Not-so-happy Halloween

Well we started the morning off taking Colton to MDO in a semi costume...he wanted to be batman for Halloween but didn't want to wear his costume to school. So he wore a batman shirt and black pants...close enough.

Well, I got a phone call from a number I didn't know, about 11:50. It was one of Colton's teachers telling me Colton had thrown up. So I hung up the phone, grabbed Corbin and we went to get him. They were having a Halloween party for his class and I signed up to take cupcakes...they were so cute! So when I went in to get Colton, I took the cupcakes too. His teacher told me, he had thrown up again since I talked to her. Goodness, poor guy! So we get in the car and I drive to CVS to get 7up and crackers. We got out of the car and he threw up in the parking lot. Geez!

A little bit after we got home, he threw up again. He's had a little 7up and crackers. We've been on the couch watching movies. Corbin of course wants to play. We had big plans of trick or treating with some friends...Colton's first time to actually trick or treat. Sadly, we won't be able to join. He's been looking forward to it all week too. But he can't keep anything down and we don't want to pass this on to other kiddos. Next year, we'll get to go!

Exciting Change

As some may know, we put our house up for sale late July, had a contract on the house 3 weeks later and closed 25 days after that (Sept 13). During the first week we were under contract, we quickly tried to find a house. Well we knew we weren't going to find our next house that quickly, so we put it on hold and tried to find something temporary...a rent house or apartment. We wanted to save a little and we learned that renting a house was more than we paid in mortgage, so that went out the window. Then the hunt for an apartment was on. Little did I know how hard it would be. We had a few things playing against us...people were still out of homes from when the tornado hit in May and school had just started back, and some didn't accept pets.

Finally we found one...except it wouldn't be available until a week after we closed on our house. Which meant we had to stay with family for a few days. It also meant, we had to get a storage building, move EVERYTHING we owned in there then just move only what we would need to the next few months, into the apt.

We moved in, unpacked, and started house hunting. Ohhhhh how I do not like house hunting. I felt so defeated. Living in a tiny apartment with 2 kids was wearing on me, even after a week. We were constantly on the go trying to find our next home. This went on for about a month. I didn't feel like myself, I was averaging one home cooked meal a week and I couldn't stand being in the apartment. FINALLY, we found a new neighborhood, in the shook district we so badly wanted to be in, found a lot and house plan.

We signed a contract to build our next house, on 10/18. Oh my goodness...I felt like a weight had been lifted. I instantly felt better...things seemed brighter (cheesy sounding, I know), but I honestly felt SO much better.

We will close on our new house in April. I am beyond thrilled to be in this cute neighborhood! We get to pick everything out. I can't wait to move and get established before Colton starts school. I'm so excited about this new chapter!!! This house will be very "us". I can't wait to watch our boys grow up in this community. I will be posting pictures as our house is being built 😊

One

I can't believe I forgot to do Corbin's ONE year post!

Well our sweet, independent, vocal, determined little boy, turned one. One year ago, we were getting used to being a family of four and getting to know Corbin. We thought Corbin would be a lot like his brother. We were so very wrong. Corbin is different than his big brother...he is very determined, curious, independent and very much his own person. Here are his one year stats...

Weight: 20 lbs 11 oz (25%)
Height: 30 1/4 inches (75%)
Head: 47 cm (75%)
Diapers: size 3
Clothes: 12 month
Food: he eats mostly what we eat and has a great appetite. He's also on whole milk now.
Dislikes: washing his hair, getting hair cuts, when mom or dad leave without him, toys/items being taken away, diaper changes, pasta

He tries so hard to keep up with big brother! He signs for "more", says dada, uh oh and sometimes mama. The boy LOVED rock (old or new) music and dancing to it. Loves his dog, Tucker. He has 4 teeth, but more are on the way. He's so sweet and cuddles when he wants to. Otherwise, he wants to do his own thing. He really likes cars with sirens and mimics the noise. Absolutely loves water and his water bottle. When he's uncomfortable or doesn't like something, he will make it known. He has a fake cry down pat!

Right now we're trying to get him transitioned from a bottle to a sippy cup and he's not liking it at all! Maybe we just haven't found the right sippy for him? He loves to hold my hand while going to sleep...especially in the car. Which can sometimes be tricky, if I'm driving.

It's hard to believe its only been with us for a year. I feel like he's always been apart of our family, yet, he's just a little guy. I love his sweet smile and his kind eyes. There's no greater joy than being a mom. I couldn't imagine being anyone else's mom. Colton and Corbin are such a blessing and I love them more than they will ever know. We can't wait to watch Corbin grow this next year! These years are going by so fast but they're so fun!

3 years old

Ummm we have a THREE (3) year old!!! How can that be?? Where does the time go?? It makes me sad that he's already 3 but he is SO much fun! His personality shines more and more each day.

Weight: 34 pounds
Height: 38.5 in which translates to 3.5 ft
Clothes: he's teetering on 4T. He has long legs...like his momma 😊
Shoe size: 10

He is talking a lot more clear now and really talking a lot. For a while, he didn't talk a whole lot. And actually, just in the 2 days he has been in MDO, I have noticed a difference in how much he talks and the clarity is better. As any kid, he doesn't like to share a whole lot, but we are working on that. He LOVES to play with other kids.

He has changed so much in the past year, which is expected. But I catch myself staring at his face and just smiling...thinking gosh, he's getting so big and how stinking cute he is. Of course I'm going to think that because he's my son.

He likes to run around, play in dirt, throw rocks, throw balls, play with trucks/cars/trains, climb and jump, look at bugs...pretty typical boy stuff really. He can be a handful sometimes but he is so sweet. He's a definite mommas boy and of course I love it. But he likes being just like dad too.

He's still pretty picky about food. I think it's easier to say what he does like than what he doesn't like. I try to give him good options when I make him lunch but it drives me crazy when he says "I don't like that" when 2 days ago, he loved it. Kids. Hopefully he will start liking other things soon. We try to reintroduce foods after a while.

I look forward to seeing how he changes between 3 & 4. Before we know it, he'll be starting preK. As for now, we will enjoy watching him be a boy and watch him become his own person, watching his personality come out more and more each day. He is an absolute blessing and I love him more than he will ever know. I love his cuddles and when he says "I love you". I'll miss those one day. He has the sweetest laugh and voice. He's so quiet and calm...until he gets too tired or is really comfortable in his surroundings.

Now I'm going to take my sweet, exhausted 3 year old to bed so he can get nice and rested for his 3rd day of MDO tomorrow!

It's been a while

Well out family has been through A LOT the past 3-4 weeks. I'll touch on that more later. This week was a biggie for Mr Colton! He turned THREE (3!!!!)  and he started "school", which is a children's day out. I'll talk about school in this post. We have him enrolled 2 days a week, so he goes every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9-2, that Norman public schools are in session. Tuesday was the first day and we had been talking to him about it. He picked out a backpack and lunch box. He was so excited!! Well we dropped him off Tuesday...I took him to play and slowly backed up. I could see him start to look for me, so I got out of there before he noticed.

We get to the car and I just started crying. Of course, Adam is laughing at me because I'm crying! Yes I cried!! I felt so bad for just leaving without saying bye but I knew if I did, he would have a melt down. Adam reminded me that it was good for Colton...and me. Ha!

The day seemed so long until we could go pick him up. I knew that since I didn't have a phone call telling me to come get him, it must have been going well. At 1:45, they have a snack and we were there a tad early because I just couldn't wait any longer, so at 1:52 we were walking in. He was sitting at the table with the other kids, eating his snack. He saw us and ran over. I almost cried again. His teacher said he had a couple crying moments but for it being his first time, he did really well.

They learned the letter "F", did a craft, learned about listening to your heart, played outside and he said he had fun!! He told me about the friends he made.

I had a feeling, today would be different since he knew the drill. He told me last night he cried at school because I left. Talk about break my heart! I told him mommies don't stay while kids are at school and playing. I was right about today...we pulled in the parking lot and he started crying. He cried all the way in. I basically had to hand him to a teacher and run. I didn't have a phone call, so I knew he was ok. Today, when we picked him up, he just looked at us and continued to eat his snack. Ha! He finally came and gave us a hug, then said he wanted to go back and eat.

He had fun again today, so that's great!! He named off the same kids that he said on Tuesday. He told us all about his day and says he likes going! Yay! I'm so glad it's a success!! I know the next few drop offs will be rough but I know he's in good hands and having fun!

5 years

It seems like yesterday, I was walking down the aisle to greet my groom and moments later, saying "I do". Now, here we are, 5 years later, with 2 beautiful kids.

It definitely doesn't feel like 5 years have gone by. Thankfully, Adam still makes me laugh, makes me happy and I love him more every day. We got to celebrate last night, by going to dinner. We went to the Ranch steakhouse and it was amazing!!!! I left so incredibly full, I was hurting. My mom came to our house to watch the boys, so we could enjoy dinner. Thanks mom! That's a restaurant, I definitely want to enjoy again!

I can't predict the future, but I know that I'm glad I have Adam as my partner in life. There's no one else I'd rather face each day with, good and bad or raise our kids with. I can't wait to see what the days, months, and years ahead have in store for us!!

Walker

We officially have 4 people walking around our house. Corbin decided yesterday was the day. At 9.5 months, he is absolutely walking! This is so crazy to me! I feel like he's so small! Ha! Colton was almost 11 months when he started walking. But Corbin was determined to be like big brother!

Colton likes it too...he holds his hands and they walk. Colton lights up when he's standing alone and starts walking. He says "there he goes!" It's so cute!!!

Our days were already busy...now they're going to be even busier! I felt like I couldn't sit down before, now I might as well just stand all day and chase the little guys. Never did I look at 8:00 and think, yes!!! Bed time! Not only for the boys, but me too!! It's exhausting! Even if they're asleep and I lay in bed and relax in silence, for a while before going to sleep, it's a wonderful treat.

10 year reunion

I have a lot of catching up to do...

July 20 was my 10 year high school reunion. I debated for a while on whether or not to go. At the last minute to bug tickets, my friend Rachel and I decided...why not? So the tickets were bought and the day finally rolled around. Adam and I went to Rachel's to hang out beforehand with her and her husband John.

We went to the reunion around 8 and walked in...went to grab a drink and start awkwardly mingling. It was pretty awkward at first, but as the night went on, we had fun!! It was nice seeing everyone. Although it seems like I knew most things because of Facebook. You get to see what people are up to all the time. It was a good night and I'm glad we decided to go! Adam and John were troopers!

9 months

Corbin has officially been an outside baby for as long as he was an inside baby! Adam said "ohhh but it seemed like you were pregnant for much longer." Ha!!!! Not going to lie...I'm not a very good pregnant person. Anyway, lets get to the little guy...

Weight - 19 lbs 1.6 oz (25th percentile)
Height - 28 1/4 (50th percentile)
Diapers - size 3 still
Clothes - 6-9, 9, some 12 month.
Food - formula + people food. Still loving avocados! He likes egg whites, sweet potatoes, apple, cucumber, watermelon...so far he's not our picky eater. Hopefully he won't be!
Sleep - he's down to 2 naps/day. Still waking up at night...the magic time has been 3.
Dislikes - having diaper changed, big brother being mean, not being able to go outside, hair washed, having something taken away from him, when dad and Colton are outside.
Misc - standing unassisted, walking along furniture, playing chase, banging toys together. He's obsessed with his dad!! Likes to sleep on his stomach. He's a very active little guy! He's into absolutely everything!!

I can't believe he will be ONE in 3 months! And Colton will be 3! That is nuts to me!! Time goes absolutely so fast but I am SO glad and lucky to spend every day with both of them! Right now, I have to watch Colton around Corbin because he's kind of mean to him. He has sweet moments too. Hopefully that will subside soon because Corbin loves his big brother and wants to play with him so badly!

28th birthday

This past Tuesday, I turned 28. 28. Why does 28 seem SO much older than 27? I'm not the only one that feels like this...my friends all said the same. But the thought of 30 doesn't sound a lot older. Weird. Anyway...we had a pretty normal day. Breakfast, cleaned, picked up yummy chick-fil-a for lunch, headed to my moms to swim, nap time for boys, dinner and bed. Adam happened to forget his phone was in his swim trunks, got in the pool and swam for about 10 min before realizing.... 😖 We tried putting it in rice until the next day to see if that would work...nope. Thankfully, we have protection and he's getting a new replacement free of charge. Just waiting on it to come in. Right now he has a loaner.

Anyway, Thursday afternoon, my mom and sister came over to watch the boys and we went to lunch together. We went to the Mont...yum! Haven't been there in FAR too long!! It was a nice little outting, just the two of us. All in all, I had a great birthday! 27 was a wonderful year that brought our sweet Corbin. Can't wait to see what 28 brings!

4th of July

Adam worked again this 4th, so we went up to see him in the afternoon. Colton was all about sitting in the fire trucks and seeing the lights. Corbin got to sit in the fire truck too. They had fun while we were there, of course!!

When we left, we headed to one of my friends, parents house for a pool party/cook out. Rachel and I have been friends since 7th grade. We lived together for a bit in college, we're both married and we both have kids now. She has a little girl that will be 1 soon.

Colton and Corbin had a blast playing on the big water slide, playing in the pool, and playing with other kids. We got home after 7 and I was exhausted! I had debated on whether or not to take them to see fireworks, but they were both tired too. Just as we were about to go to bed, I saw fireworks out our kitchen window. So we went out back and I showed Colton. I quickly realized, they were coming from the streets surrounding ours. So we headed to the driveway to watch. They were going off in every direction. Colton couldn't turn fast enough to see them all. He was in awe and loved them!!! Corbin fell asleep on my chest while we were outside. I had to drag Colton inside so we could go to sleep. He LOVES the fireworks!! We had a great 4th, but hopefully next year, dad will be home!!!

???

I just realized my Wisconsin part 1 post didn't publish when I did it, so I just tried again

Wisconsin trip part 1

I'm a tad late on posting about this trip, but we've been pretty busy lately! Anyway...we left bright or should I says, dark and early Thursday morning, may 23rd. We figured that would be best so the boys would sleep. What is normally a 12 hour drive, ended up being a 14 hr drive because when we stopped, we took our time and let Corbin and Colton really stretch their legs. We got to Wisconsin about 745 that evening.

Friday, was a super nice day!! Blue skies, hardly any wind and low 70s. A perfect day. Adam had plans to go golfing with his friend Matt, so I took the boys to a park and let them play for a while. Mary came by to play with us for a little bit too. then once they were getting tired, we got in the car and I drove around to let them sleep. The scenery is really pretty around there, so driving around wasn't a bad thing. One we got back to the house, they woke up and we went over to their neighbors house to play with their kids. There are cows behind the neighbors yard, so Colton thought that was the best thing ever! The kids showed him how to feed the cows and he became obsessed with them. Once Adam came back, we went on a long walk around the town, then to another park to play before going back to the house. That evening, Nicole (Aunt Nikki) came for the weekend once she got off work. We all had dinner and hung out and just had a great evening!

I will be back for part 2 soon. It's been a long day and I'm exhausted!!

Down and under

Well would you believe that ALL 4 of us are sick?? At the same time! It all started Tuesday night. Colton didn't sleep well at all. He was super restless and I noticed he was pretty warm. When we got up Wednesday, I was thinking maybe he was getting his 2 year molars. After a couple hours, I realized he was actually sick. Thankfully he was all about taking medicine (aka candy), so we were able to keep the fever down. Thursday night rolled around and before bed, I noticed my throat was a little sore. That night, Corbin was really restless. He was up 10 times between 1030 and 2. I realized he was getting sick too. So I gave him Tylenol and he finally went to sleep. Then at 4, he woke up crying. Nothing was helping, so we just walked around the house. He calmed down enough for us to lay back down.

Friday morning, we woke up and my throat felt like it was on fire, Corbin was super stuffy and Adam came home saying his throat was sore too. Great! Colton was still stuffy as well. Adam and I got progressively worse throughout the day. And I just hate when babies are sick because they don't know what's going on or understand they need to breathe through their mouth.

So here we are Saturday morning...Colton is doing much better, Corbin is exhausted but won't sleep because he can't breathe and from the neck up, I feel pretty awful. Neck down, I could have a dance party! Adam is at work and says he feels pretty crummy. What a lovely weekend around our house!! No one comes in, no one goes out!

Hope your weekend is looking a little better than ours!

8 months

Aaaaand again, I'm a few days behind on this. 8 months...can you believe it?? It seems like he's been here for so long, yet it's like he just got here. Regardless, time is flying!! Here's where he's at now...

Weight: no official stats until next month but he's about 20 lbs
Diapers: size 3
Clothes: 6 month, 6-12 mth. Depends on brand. He has a small waist, so his 6-12 mth shorts are a tad big on him. He's definitely not the chunk his big brother was.
Sleep: still getting up 1-2 times a night, depending on his activity level. 3 naps during the day, morning, afternoon, evening.
Eats: he's pretty much on formula now. I held on as long as I could. It was stressful for both of us. I decided I was going to pump and just bottle feed what I pumped. After a while, I realized I wasn't producing enough for him, so we decide to supplement with formula. Well after a while, we just decided to go with formula. His acid reflux has gotten SO much better. Not sure if its because of the formula or his age. But as far as food, he LOVES avocado still, he likes watermelon and banana. I think we'll start to try more table food and less baby food because he seems much more interested in what we're eating.
Dislikes: diaper changes, getting his hair washed, changing clothes, getting cleaned up after a meal, getting something taken away from him.
Likes: being mobile, anything and everything about big brother, tucker, cuddling before or after sleep, music, toys, the pool.

Month 7 was definitely the month he learned all forms of crawling. He started out with an army crawl, figured out how to crawl on his hands and knees, then a bear crawl. He bear crawls on tile and grass. He's definitely a fast little guy and he loves to follow Colton and Adam around. It's so cute!! Anything that big brother is doing, he wants to try to do it too. He's pulling up on anything he can and walking along furniture, walls, etc. he really likes his new water bottle! He observes everything! If we try to hide something from him, he'll look all over for it. And climbing...the kid likes to climb!

It's so funny to watch both boys and think how different they are. Their personalities are so much different! Colton is very cautious and detail oriented. Corbin is very adventurous and observant. One thing is for sure...they both LOVE being outside!!

I love these two boys more than I could have ever imagined and I love watching them grow!
